THE BREATH GETS THIN
THE NAZARENE

[INTRO]

Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Mercy is moving
while lungs still count.

No one knows
when the last breath spins.
Come to Christ
before the breath gets thin.

[VERSE 1]

Chest rise slow in a blue-lit room,
phone still bright but the night feels bruised.
Everybody plans like the day is sure,
but the clock don’t ask what you’re living for.

One breath laughing, one breath still,
one breath climbing that hospital hill.
One breath texting, “I’m nearly home,”
next breath gone and the house feels cold.

I’ve seen strong men lose that fight,
machines beep soft in the pale ward light.
Mums pray low with a shaking hand,
death walks in and the proud can’t stand.

Not saying this to make hearts freeze,
I’m saying it with tears on knees.
If your lungs still lift, that is mercy’s sign,
God gave breath, but He owns the time.

Life is mist on a morning glass,
warm for a moment, then moving past.
Grass looks green till the hot wind blows,
flower stands tall then the colour goes.

You can chase applause, you can chase that win,
still can’t bargain when breath gets thin.
No fame buys back one borrowed breath,
no gold shakes hands with death.

[HOOK]

The breath gets thin, but the door’s still wide,
Jesus is Life on the other side.
Turn from sin while the blood still speaks,
mercy still calls to the lost and weak.

The breath gets thin, but the King still saves,
Christ walked out of the sealed-up grave.
Come home now, let the old life die,
Jesus gives breath that will never die.

[VERSE 2]

Culture says, “Don’t think too deep,”
party, scroll, then numb to sleep.
Laugh at judgement, mock the Word,
till the room goes quiet and truth gets heard.

No one posts when the soul stands bare,
no filter helps in the judgement glare.
Hebrews says once to die, then throne,
you don’t meet God with a borrowed phone.

Hell is real, I say that with grief,
not for shock, not for streams, not beef.
God is holy, sin is not small,
every proud heart must answer the call.

Some say, “Later, when I’m old,”
but young graves preach with a thunder cold.
Some say, “I’m good, I don’t need grace,”
but God sees stains that mirrors won’t face.

The prophets cried in the city square,
“Seek the Lord while mercy’s there.”
Isaiah called to the thirsty soul,
come without money, be made whole.

Ezekiel saw dry bones rise,
breath came back under holy skies.
But bones don’t rise by human will,
God must speak where the grave sits still.

Church mask can’t save, clean words can’t hide,
if the heart stays chained to pride.
Real faith bows where the Cross stands high,
real repentance lets old gods die.

So don’t let comfort sedate your sin,
don’t wait until the breath gets thin.
If the Spirit warns, don’t push Him away,
today is mercy, today is the day.

[VERSE 3]

Here is the Gospel, clear as dawn,
sin broke the world and we’re all born wrong.
Holy God and a guilty race,
no clean heart without saving grace.

Jesus Christ came in human flesh,
true man breathing our dust and death.
No sin in Him, no stain, no lie,
yet He came for sinners to die.

Cross on His back, blood from His brow,
mercy was speaking then, mercy speaks now.
Nails went deep and the sky turned dim,
judgement fell on the Lamb for sin.

He shed His blood for the sinner’s stain,
bore our curse, bore our shame.
Cried out loud, then gave His breath,
entered fully the valley of death.

They buried His body, the stone was sealed,
hope looked hidden, the wound looked real.
But the third day broke with a holy sound,
Jesus rose bodily out of the ground.

Not a symbol, not a vibe, not a dream,
death got split by the risen King.
Breath in His mouth, scars in His hands,
life now offered to every land.

Repent and believe, don’t drift, don’t wait,
the broad road smiles but it ends at a gate.
Come as guilty, come as weak,
Christ saves sinners who truly seek.

Bring Him your panic, bring Him your pride,
bring Him the secrets you buried inside.
Bring Him the breath that He gave to you,
He makes dead hearts new.

[BRIDGE]

Mercy while the lungs still rise.
Mercy while the tears still shine.
Mercy while the door stands wide.
Come to Jesus Christ.

Blood for the guilty.
Grace for the weak.
Life for the dying.
Peace for the meek.

[FINAL HOOK]

The breath gets thin, but the door’s still wide,
Jesus is Life on the other side.
Turn from sin while the blood still speaks,
mercy still calls to the lost and weak.

The breath gets thin, but the King still saves,
Christ walked out of the sealed-up grave.
Come home now, let the old life die,
Jesus gives breath that will never die.

[OUTRO]

Your next breath is mercy.
Your last breath is near.
Turn to Jesus Christ.
Life is here.
