WOOD AND STONE 2.0

Track NameWOOD AND STONE 2.0
00:00 / 05:50

They carved wood.
They carved stone.
Now they carve code
and call it a throne.

But earth is earth.
Dust is dust.
Only Jesus
is worthy of trust.

[VERSE 1]

Isaiah watched as the craftsman cut,
half for the fire, half for the shrine.
Cook with one side, bow to the other,
blind heart calling a block divine.

Jeremiah laughed at the forest pole,
silver and gold on a lifeless frame.
Nailed in place so it would not fall,
then people trembled before its name.

Psalms said idols have eyes but see not,
ears but hear not, mouths but mute.
Feet but walk not, hands but handle not,
and those who trust them become that fruit.

Now bring that word to the screen-lit age,
same old altar, brighter disguise.
Silicon carved from the sand of the earth,
glass made smooth for the hungry eyes.

Copper veins from the rock below,
lithium pulled from mineral ground.
Plastic born from buried old matter,
oil-dark history polished sound.

So why bow down to refined dust?
Why fear the thing from the earth we mine?
God made the stone, God made the tree,
God made the laws that let circuits shine.

[HOOK]

Wood and stone, silver and gold,
same old idol in a new control.
Screen may glow, but it cannot save,
dust returns to the dust and grave.

Open our eyes, Lord, make us see,
Jesus alone sets captives free.
Stone can’t save, wood can’t speak,
Christ is the Rock, the strong, the meek.

[VERSE 2]

Deuteronomy warned when you lift your eyes,
do not worship the sun and moon.
Now men worship the light in the palm,
scrolling their souls in a pixel room.

Hosea said Israel kissed the calf,
metal shaped by a human hand.
Today we kiss the glowing glass,
then wonder why the heart can’t stand.

Habakkuk cried, “Woe to the maker,
who tells dumb wood, Awake, arise!”
Now apps awaken before our faces,
training our wants and feeding lies.

But this is not fear of the tools of earth,
tools can serve when the heart bows right.
The plough is holy when love directs it,
the screen is clean when it carries light.

But when the tool becomes the master,
when attention becomes the tithe,
when children offer sleep and wonder,
then old Babylon has been revived.

So I break agreement with lifeless idols,
I name the matter, strip the spell.
Rock, sand, metal, oil and circuit,
you are not heaven, you are not hell.

[HOOK]

Wood and stone, silver and gold,
same old idol in a new control.
Screen may glow, but it cannot save,
dust returns to the dust and grave.

Open our eyes, Lord, make us see,
Jesus alone sets captives free.
Stone can’t save, wood can’t speak,
Christ is the Rock, the strong, the meek.

[BRIDGE]

God can raise up children from stones.
Stones can cry if saints stay still.
But stones are servants, never saviours.
Only Christ can cleanse the will.

[VERSE 3]

Acts seventeen, Paul stood bold,
God is not housed in crafted gold.
Not served by hands as though He needs,
He gives all breath and life and seed.

Romans one says the trade went wrong,
creature worshipped instead of Lord.
That is the root of every idol,
earth enthroned while God ignored.

So phone, return to servant place.
Laptop, kneel to the King of grace.
Signal, carry what is pure.
Feed, be disciplined and sure.

No algorithm names my soul.
No device receives my praise.
No screen becomes my morning prayer.
No idol eats my days.

Jesus walked on waves and waters,
matter bowed beneath His feet.
He is Lord over sand and silicon,
Lord over signal, code and street.

[FINAL HOOK]

Wood and stone, silver and gold,
same old idol in a new control.
Screen may glow, but it cannot save,
dust returns to the dust and grave.

Open our eyes, Lord, make us see,
Jesus alone sets captives free.
Stone can’t save, wood can’t speak,
Christ is the Rock, the strong, the meek.

[OUTRO]

Not wood.
Not stone.
Not screen.
Not throne.

Jesus only.
Christ alone.
