Berryllium
A sharp, precise knight with crystalline armour. Strong, focused, and disciplined, he reinforces structures and forms extremely tough defences.
Beryllium is a strong, stiff, lightweight metal with a very high melting point. It’s transparent to X-rays and extremely stable. Although toxic as dust, its unusual strength and thermal stability make it valuable in aerospace and scientific instruments.
Press play. Every element has a voice.
POWERS: Shardguard donates tightly controlled electron beams that strengthen and stabilise bonds. His donation style is precise, reinforcing structures rather than causing dramatic reactions.
I am Shardguard — Beryllium — the edge that stays calm while it cuts.
Everything about me is precision.
My structure, my reactions, my strength-to-weight ratio…
all of it tuned like a blade held between two fingers.
Light.
Sharp.
Unshaking.
I’m rare on Earth, hidden deep in minerals,
but when humans find me,
they shape me into tools that demand clarity:
satellite components, aerospace frames,
X-ray windows so thin and strong
that even high-energy photons slip through without breaking them.
I work where hesitation isn’t allowed.
I don’t rust.
I barely bend.
I stand firm in heat that melts other metals.
Engineers value me
not because I’m loud,
but because I keep my form
in places where failure isn’t an option.
In chemistry, my hands stay close to my chest.
My electrons sit tight,
held in a grip steady enough
that I rarely give them away without reason.
Some call that stubborn.
I call it discipline.
I don’t flare like the alkalis.
I don’t drift like the noble gases.
I’m a different kind of presence —
quiet, exact, crystalline.
In Period City, they see me as the swordsman.
The sentinel.
The one who doesn’t waste motion or words.
But beneath the edge, there’s purpose:
I hold my line
so others can hold theirs.
I am Shardguard —
the clarity that doesn’t break.
