LOVE THAT COMES LOOKING

TITLE: LOVE THAT COMES LOOKING
ARTIST: THE NAZARENE
STYLE: Prophets in the Gate series, children’s prophetic wisdom Gospel rap, Hosea origin story, covenant love, mercy after betrayal, heavenly classical instruments, soft Afro-futurist drums, living-water choir
[INTRO]
Hosea was a prophet with a broken heart.
His life became a message.
God showed Israel
what covenant love feels like
when people run after other gods.
But God still came looking.
[VERSE 1]
Hosea lived when the kingdom looked strong,
but underneath, the heart went wrong.
Altars were crowded, songs were loud,
but idols were hiding inside the crowd.
God called Hosea to speak through pain,
not just thunder, not just rain.
His own home became a sign,
of love betrayed across covenant time.
Gomer wandered, hearts got torn,
children carried names like storm.
Hosea felt the ache inside,
what happens when faithful love is denied.
Gen Alpha, listen, this is not light,
love is not just feelings bright.
Real love keeps covenant truth,
not fake affection chasing youth.
The world says, “Follow every desire,”
but some sparks turn into wildfire.
Not every love that calls your name,
leads your heart toward holy flame.
[HOOK]
Love that comes looking,
mercy that stays,
God still calls us
from wandering ways.
Hosea’s tears,
Israel’s pain,
grace like rain
calling us again.
Come back home,
the Father says,
I have loved you
all your days.
[VERSE 2]
Israel chased what could not hear,
bowed to gods that could not draw near.
Wood and stone with golden face,
but idols never give real grace.
They wanted harvest, wine and grain,
but forgot the One who sent the rain.
They chased the gifts and missed the Giver,
drank from puddles beside the river.
Hosea cried, “Return to the Lord,
bring true words, not empty sword.
Mercy, not sacrifice alone,
God wants hearts, not polished stone.”
That still cuts through our age today,
where screens teach hearts to drift away.
Likes can feel like love for a minute,
but leave the soul with nothing in it.
Trends can promise, brands can shine,
but idols always waste your time.
If anything takes God’s throne,
it cannot love you, it only owns.
[CHOIR COUNTER]
Mercy, not show.
Love, not pride.
Come back home.
Do not hide.
[HOOK]
Love that comes looking,
mercy that stays,
God still calls us
from wandering ways.
Hosea’s tears,
Israel’s pain,
grace like rain
calling us again.
Come back home,
the Father says,
I have loved you
all your days.
[VERSE 3]
Then comes the wonder, sharp and bright,
God does not quit in the covenant night.
He says, “I taught Ephraim how to walk,
held them close, heard them talk.”
“How can I give you up?” God cries,
mercy burning through holy eyes.
Justice is real, sin is not small,
but God’s compassion rises over all.
Hosea shows the heart of God,
not soft on sin, not cold with rod.
Holy love that tells the truth,
and still comes searching for the youth.
Gen Alpha, when you feel far away,
when shame says, “Hide another day,”
remember mercy does not mean pretend,
it means God calls you home again.
Forgiveness is not God saying sin was fine,
it is grace with blood in the covenant line.
Love came looking through judgement and tears,
then Christ came walking through human years.
[BRIDGE]
Idols say, “Use me.”
God says, “I love you.”
Idols say, “Prove.”
God says, “I know you.”
Idols say, “More.”
God says, “Rest.”
Idols take the heart.
God gives His best.
Return, return,
from the empty road.
Grace is calling,
come back home.
[VERSE 4]
Hosea points us straight to Christ,
the faithful Husband, sacrifice.
Jesus came for the runaway bride,
opened mercy from His wounded side.
We were wandering, He was true,
we were faithless, He came through.
At the Cross, love paid the cost,
seeking children who were lost.
He rose again with covenant grace,
calling sinners face to face.
Not to shame them into night,
but to wash them clean in resurrection light.
So children, guard what your heart adores,
not every open thing is a door.
Do not chase idols dressed as friends,
their shiny road has bitter ends.
The Lord who sees, the Lord who knows,
the Lord whose mercy overflows,
still calls through Hosea’s rain:
return, My child, come home again.
[FINAL HOOK]
Love that comes looking,
mercy that stays,
God still calls us
from wandering ways.
Hosea’s tears,
Israel’s pain,
grace like rain
calling us again.
Come back home,
the Father says,
I have loved you
all your days.
[OUTRO]
Hosea was a prophet
whose heart became a sermon.
Israel ran.
God called.
Idols promised.
God loved.
Sin was real.
Mercy was deeper.
And Jesus is the faithful love
that comes looking
for the lost.
