POUR OUT YOUR SPIRIT

Track NamePOUR OUT YOUR SPIRIT
00:00 / 05:55

TITLE: POUR OUT YOUR SPIRIT
ARTIST: THE NAZARENE
STYLE: Prophets in the Gate series, children’s prophetic wisdom Gospel rap, Joel origin story, locusts, repentance, restoration, Pentecost fire, rainbow choir[INTRO]Joel saw a land stripped bare.Locusts had eaten the fields.
Joy had dried up.
The harvest was gone. But Joel did not only speak disaster. He spoke return.
He spoke restoration.
He spoke Spirit.“I will pour out My Spirit
on all flesh.”[VERSE 1]Joel stood where the fields looked thin,
grain gone quiet, dust blown in.
Locusts came like a hungry wave,
green land looking like an empty grave. The vines were stripped, the fig trees torn,
children woke to a hungry morn.
Priests stood silent with nothing to bring,
no wine, no grain, no harvest song to sing.Joel cried out, “Wake up and see,
this is not small, come honestly.
Call the elders, gather the land,
bring your hearts to the Lord’s own hand.”Not panic posting, not empty fear,
but holy turning because God is near.
Gen Alpha, listen when the world feels dry,
don’t just scroll past pain with tired eyes. When the news shows war, when prices climb,
when creation groans in wounded time,
Joel says gather, pray, return,
let hearts wake up where lessons burn.[HOOK]Pour out Your Spirit, Lord, like rain,
bring dead fields back to life again.
Sons and daughters, hear the call,
Your mercy reaches one and all.Restore the years the locusts ate,
open hope where fear feels late.
Children, dream and prophesy,
God still speaks beneath the sky.[VERSE 2]Joel did not say, “Fix your face,
pretend you are fine in a broken place.”
He said, “Rend your heart, not clothes alone,
come back to God, return home.”For the Lord is gracious, slow to wrath,
mercy walking the judgement path.
Abounding in love, not quick to destroy,
He can turn mourning back into joy. Then God answered with promised grain,
oil and wine after bitter rain.
“I will repay the years,” He said,
“the locusts took when hope looked dead.”That line is gold for the child who lost,
for families counting hidden cost.
God does not waste the tears you cry,
He can grow gardens where fields ran dry.But restoration is deeper than bread,
deeper than harvest rising from dead.
God promised more than full barns bright:
Spirit poured out like morning light.[CHOIR COUNTER]Return to the Lord.
He is gracious and kind.
Restore our hearts.
Renew our minds.[HOOK]Pour out Your Spirit, Lord, like rain,
bring dead fields back to life again.
Sons and daughters, hear the call,
Your mercy reaches one and all.Restore the years the locusts ate,
open hope where fear feels late.
Children, dream and prophesy,
God still speaks beneath the sky.[VERSE 3]“Afterward,” Joel heard God say,
“My Spirit will be poured in a wider way.
Sons and daughters shall prophesy,
old men dream beneath My sky.”Young hearts see what God can do,
servants filled with Spirit too.
Not just kings in royal rooms,
not just priests with temple tunes. Then Acts 2 came with wind and flame,
Peter stood and preached Joel’s name.
“This is that,” the apostle cried,
Spirit poured because Christ is alive.Pentecost fire in a crowded street,
many tongues and mercy beat.
What Joel saw in prophetic seed
flowered where the nations heard and believed.Gen Alpha, that means children matter,
your prayers are not background chatter.
God can fill the young with light,
truth and love and holy sight.[BRIDGE]Locusts ate.
God restored.People prayed.
Mercy poured.Fields were dry.
Spirit came.Sons and daughters
called His Name.Not just adults.
Not just kings.
God gives children
holy things.[VERSE 4]Joel also warned of the Day of the Lord,
not a game, not a plastic sword.
God will judge what ruins the earth,
idols, violence, pride and worth. But judgement is not the end of the song,
mercy has been singing all along.
Whoever calls on the Name of the Lord
shall be saved by the living Word. And Joel points us straight to Christ,
the crucified and risen life.
Jesus sends the Spirit down,
turns dry dust to holy ground. At the Cross, the sky went dark,
but resurrection lit the spark.
Now the Spirit fills the weak,
gives bold words to children who speak. So when your world feels eaten bare,
when fear sits heavy in the air,
call on Jesus, do not hide,
the Spirit makes dead hope alive.[FINAL HOOK]Pour out Your Spirit, Lord, like rain,
bring dead fields back to life again.
Sons and daughters, hear the call,
Your mercy reaches one and all.Restore the years the locusts ate,
open hope where fear feels late.
Children, dream and prophesy,
God still speaks beneath the sky.[OUTRO]Joel saw locusts.God promised restoration.Joel saw judgement.God promised mercy.Joel saw sons and daughters
filled with the Spirit. And Peter said at Pentecost:This is that.Jesus is risen.
The Spirit is poured out.
Children, call on the Name of the Lord.
