ONE LIKE A SON OF MAN

TITLE: ONE LIKE A SON OF MAN
ARTIST: THE NAZARENE
[INTRO]
I saw beasts rise from the sea.
I saw thrones set in fire.
I saw books opened.
Then I saw Him.
One like a Son of Man.
[VERSE 1]
Daniel saw night with the sea gone wild,
four beasts climbing from the deep defiled.
Empire teeth with a hunger for thrones,
iron in the jawline, blood in the bones.
Lion with wings, bear with ribs,
leopard swift with dominion to grip.
Then came the fourth like a nightmare made law,
crushing the earth with a mechanical jaw.
Horns rose up with a boastful sound,
mouth speaking pride while the saints wore down.
Power got dressed in a royal disguise,
but the beast still breathed with rebellion eyes.
Now bring that vision to the age we see,
kingdoms on screens and a digital sea.
Markets roar, nations rage,
media beasts pace inside the cage.
Tech thrones glow, politicians rise,
brands build temples for hungry eyes.
War drums shake and the fear-feed screams,
Vanity Fair sells empire dreams.
But Daniel looked past the beastly storm,
saw court convene in a holy form.
Thrones were placed, the noise got small,
Ancient of Days sat over all.
[HOOK]
One like a Son of Man,
coming with the clouds.
Beasts may roar for a little while,
but Christ will cast them down.
Only Jesus reigns.
Only Jesus saves.
Kingdoms turn to dust,
but He walks out of graves.
Bow before the Lamb,
before the judgement stands.
The Ancient gives the Kingdom
to the Son of Man.
[VERSE 2]
Garment white like uncreated snow,
hair like wool where the fire-wheels glow.
Throne burning bright with a river of flame,
courtroom silence when Heaven names names.
Thousands served Him, millions stood,
no beast could bargain, no crown looked good.
Books were opened, the record was read,
all hidden works dragged out from the dead.
That is personal, listener, not far away,
not just prophecy for some future day.
Your secret tabs, your hidden pride,
your polished face with the dark inside.
Every false god, every lust-fed screen,
every hard word and the hate unseen.
Every mercy you refused to give,
every day you chose yourself to live.
You do not need vibes, you need blood.
Not self-esteem wrapped up in mud.
Not reputation, not moral repair,
but atonement before the Judge’s chair.
The beasts outside are not your whole threat,
there is a beast in the heart in debt.
Pride wants throne, flesh wants crown,
sin wants God’s own law pulled down.
But Daniel saw beyond man’s plan,
One like a Son of Man.
[HOOK]
One like a Son of Man,
coming with the clouds.
Beasts may roar for a little while,
but Christ will cast them down.
Only Jesus reigns.
Only Jesus saves.
Kingdoms turn to dust,
but He walks out of graves.
Bow before the Lamb,
before the judgement stands.
The Ancient gives the Kingdom
to the Son of Man.
[BRIDGE]
This is not panic.
This is prophecy.
The beasts are real,
but they are temporary.
The court is real,
but mercy is open.
The King is real.
Come now.
[VERSE 3]
Jesus took that title on His lips,
Son of Man with apocalypse
burning beneath His humble frame,
healing the sick and forgiving shame.
He told the council, “You will see
the Son of Man come in majesty,
seated in power, clouds in His wake.”
They called it blasphemy. Heaven did not shake.
The King in Daniel wore servant skin,
came to redeem beast-hearted men.
He did not flatter the human throne,
He came for sinners, lost and alone.
Then empire and religion made one cry,
“Crucify Him, let the Holy One die.”
Rome brought nails, priests brought rage,
Vanity Fair mocked the final page.
But the Cross was not defeat in disguise,
it was the judgement where mercy would rise.
Blood for rebels, blood for pride,
blood for the beast-heart hiding inside.
He bore our law-breaking, guilt and stain,
took wrath’s fire in judgement rain.
They sealed Him down in a guarded grave,
but death cannot hold the Son who saves.
Third day thunder, the stone rolled wide,
Christ rose bodily, glorified.
Now He ascended beyond our sight,
Kingdom flaming with deathless light.
So hear the warning while mercy stands:
do not bow to beastly hands.
Do not love the passing fair,
do not trust the smoke-filled air.
Repent and believe, let idols fall.
The Son of Man is Lord of all.
The kingdoms of men are sand in His hand,
but grace is open in the Son of Man.
[FINAL HOOK]
One like a Son of Man,
coming with the clouds.
Beasts may roar for a little while,
but Christ will cast them down.
Only Jesus reigns.
Only Jesus saves.
Kingdoms turn to dust,
but He walks out of graves.
Bow before the Lamb,
before the judgement stands.
The Ancient gives the Kingdom
to the Son of Man.
[OUTRO]
Beasts rise.
Books open.
Crowns fall.
Christ reigns.
Repent.
Believe.
The Son of Man is Lord.
