TITLE: HE CAME
ARTIST: THE NAZARENE

[INTRO]

Old Testament.
New Testament.

What does that mean?

Old Covenant.
New Covenant.

Promise.
Fulfilment.

The whole Bible is one story.

And the centre is Jesus.

[VERSE 1]

Old Testament opens with creation light,
God made the world and called it right.
Stars in the sky, seas in their place,
humans made to know His face.

Then came sin and the garden broke,
shame came in like a heavy smoke.
But even there, God gave a sign,
a promised Seed in the serpent line.

Noah saw judgement, water and grace,
Abraham heard God call his place.
“Through your seed, all nations blessed,”
promise beating in a pilgrim chest.

Isaac, Jacob, Joseph too,
God kept moving the story through.
Egypt chains and Moses’ rod,
Exodus showing the rescue of God.

[HOOK]

Old Testament says,
Someone is coming.

New Testament says,
He came.

Old Testament promises,
New Testament fulfils.

Jesus is His Name.

Law and prophets,
shadow and sign,
all of it moving
in holy time.

Old Testament says,
Someone is coming.

New Testament says,
He came.

[VERSE 2]

Moses came with the Law on stone,
showing God’s people they were not their own.
Commandments holy, good and true,
but hearts still needed to be made new.

Lambs were offered, blood was shown,
sin needs dealing with, not left alone.
Passover door and temple flame,
all kept whispering Jesus’ Name.

Priests stood daily, sacrifices made,
but every altar was a shadow laid.
Day of Atonement, solemn and deep,
showed how guilt could not just sleep.

Kings rose up, but kings fell down,
David’s harp and David’s crown.
Yet God promised a coming King,
whose righteous reign would heal everything.

[CHOIR COUNTER]

Promise and pattern.
Shadow and sign.
God keeps the story
through holy time.

[HOOK]

Old Testament says,
Someone is coming.

New Testament says,
He came.

Old Testament promises,
New Testament fulfils.

Jesus is His Name.

Law and prophets,
shadow and sign,
all of it moving
in holy time.

Old Testament says,
Someone is coming.

New Testament says,
He came.

[VERSE 3]

Prophets stood at the city gate,
warning hearts before too late.
Isaiah saw the holy throne,
Jeremiah cried for hearts of stone.

Ezekiel saw dry bones rise,
Daniel saw kingdoms under skies.
Micah spoke of Bethlehem’s light,
Joel saw Spirit fire ignite.

They spoke of judgement, mercy, peace,
a day when war and sorrow cease.
A Servant pierced, a Shepherd true,
a new heart God would give to you.

Old Testament is not old like gone,
it is morning before the dawn.
It is promise, roots and flame,
the road that points to Jesus’ Name.

Gen Alpha, hear the Bible clear,
this is not random stories here.
One big river, one true stream,
God’s rescue plan, God’s holy dream.

[BRIDGE]

Creation.
Fall.

Promise.
Call.

Israel.
Law.

Prophets.
Hope.

Bethlehem.
Cross.

Empty tomb.
Spirit fire.

Church.
New creation.

Jesus at the centre
of every nation.

[VERSE 4]

Then New Testament opens wide,
angel song on Bethlehem’s side.
Jesus born, the Word made flesh,
God came near to make hearts fresh.

He healed the sick, forgave the stained,
welcomed children, broke sin’s chain.
He taught the kingdom, calmed the sea,
showed what God’s own heart must be.

John said, “Look, the Lamb of God,”
Passover walking where sinners trod.
At the Cross, the shadows met,
mercy paid the sinner’s debt.

On the third day, death fell flat,
stone rolled back, and that was that.
Jesus rose, the King alive,
resurrection morning arrived.

Then Pentecost with wind and flame,
Spirit poured in Jesus’ Name.
Law not only stone outside,
God’s own Spirit now inside.
